Tunneling Works – Etzelwerk Power Plant Renovation -Lot 203 Pressure Shaft Renovation-. The Etzelwerk Power Plant, Built Between 1932 And 1937, Uses The Gradient Between Lake Sihl And Lake Zurich To Generate Energy And Produces Around 10% Of Switzerlands Traction Power Requirements. After The License Renewal In 2023, Sbb Is Now Carrying Out The Renewal And Replacement Of Parts Of The Etzelwerk Pumped Storage Power Plant As Part Of The “Etzelwerk Power Plant Renewal” Project. This Includes Replacing The Existing Covered Pressure Pipes Between The Moated Castle And The Machine House In Altendorf With An Armored Pressure Shaft Located Underground. The Subject Of This Tender Is The Excavation And Securing Of The New Pressure Shaft Between The Existing Moated Castle In Bilsten And The Machine House. The Tunneling Takes Place From The Starting Pit Created By A Secondary Lot At The Machine House In Altendorf. Machine-Assisted Rock Tunneling (Muf) Is Planned For A First Section Of Around 85 M. If The Rock Quality And Cover Are Sufficient, The Use Of A Tunnel Boring Machine Is Planned.
