Project: Tender21409 - Leamington Ferry Terminal Approach Channel & Kingsville Ferry Dredging . Pelee Island Transportation Service; Maintenance Dredging Of The Leamington Ferry Terminal Approach Channel & Kingsville Ferry Slip, Lake Erie. Geographic Township Of Mersea. Scope Of Work This Project Is To Conduct Maintenance Mechanical Dredging At Both The Leamington Ferry Terminal Approach Channel And The Kingsville Ferry Slip To Provide Safe Navigation Depth For The Pelee Island Transportation Service Vessels. The Ferry Service Is Essential As The Vessels Transport Food, Essential Goods And Equipment And Provide Pelee Island Residents Transportation To And From The Mainland. Sand, Silt And Other Particulate In The Lake Erie Longshore Drift Accumulate In The Harbor Channels Resulting In Diminished Water Depth Required For Large Vessel Navigation. Recent Soundings Indicate An Estimated 110,000M³ Of Material Will Be Removed During This Operation And Managed (Deposited) At Specified Locations In Lake Erie (Along West Shore Of Point Pelee). There Is Also A Deep-Water Disposal Location Approximately 0.7 Km South Of Kingsville, For All Material That Will Be Dredged From The Kingsville Slip.
