Quotation are invited for Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Two (2) High-Masts Structures at CSIR (DBEL) Paardefontein Site . Project Overview: The CSIR is seeking for a service provider with capability to install additional 2x 15 meter lighting masts. The service provider must provide Earth Resistance Testing and Inspection Report and Earth Resistance Certificate. The objective of the lighting masts is to safeguard personnel, equipment and building(s) from lightning strikes. 2. Designs This section of the scope of work outlines the design requirements, materials, construction specifications, and installation method for two (2) 15-metre lightning protection high masts. All work shall comply with SANS 10313, SANS 62305, SANS 10225, SANS 10142-1, and all relevant statutory regulations. 2.1 Foundation The contractor shall construct reinforced concrete foundations sized according to the structural design and mast manufacturers requirements not limited to the following: i. Approximate size: as Per relevant standard (Contractor to confirm dimensions with the structural or civil engineer)- allow for a reinforced concrete block to meet and comply with relevant structural standard as per structural standards. Rebar cage with Y16 verticals and Y10 links-for strenghth- Provide a reinforcement cage with minimum Y16 main bars and Y10 links at 200 mm centres and a holding-down bolt cage to suit the mast base plate. Anchor bolts to be hot-dip galvanised-for stability, resistance against bending and cracking and ability to handlewinds loads from the mast ii. Galvanised anchor bolt cage set accurately using template-to be set before casting concrete and must be spirit level-to provide strong fixing of the mast, resistance to overtuning from wind. Each 15 m lightning mast shall be founded on a reinforced concrete base designed for the full overturning moment from wind loading in the local wind region. The foundation size, depth, and reinforcement shall be confirmed by the mast manufacturer. Note: The concrete base must be installed to a structural/civil engineers specification 2.2 Earthing Each mast shall be provided with an independent earthing system consisting of: CSIR Tender Documentation Request for Quotation RFQ Number: 6631/23/01/2026 This is not a Purchase Order. Bonding between conductor and mast earth lug via exothermic weld or approved clamp. iv. Earth inspection pit and test link. v. Target earth resistance: 1015 depending. 2.3 Material 2× 15 m hot-dip galvanised lightning mast. Integrated lightning finial/air-termination. Base plate, and identification plate. Bare copper earth condcutors. Earth electrodes. Anchor bolt sets x8 (M24-M30 depending on the mast weight and plate size-ask the manufacture to spec). Foundation Matetrial (Cemend, concnrete, rebar cage/reinforcement, etc). Consumables. 3. Scope of work 3.1 Installation Site establishment and marking of mast positions. Scanning of underground sercives. Excavation to required depth and dimensions. Installation of blinding concrete. Placement of reinforcement and anchor bolt template. Installation of earth rods and interconnecting copper conductors. Casting of foundation concrete and curing. Erection of mast using lifting equipment. Torque tightening of anchor bolts to specified values. Bonding of mast to earthing system. Installation of earth pit and labelling.
