Construction Work – Supply Of Sheet Pile Containment Of The Pollution Around Cheminovas Old Factory Site. Region Central Jutland Is Offering The Main Contract For Carrying Out The Containment Of The Pollution On Cheminovas Old Factory Site At Harboøre Tange. In Order To Ensure The Function Of The Piling Going Forward, Cathodic Protection Must Also Be Established. The Pollution Occurred Back In The Period 1953-1961, When Cheminovas Factory Was Moved From Måløv To Harboøre Tange. On Large Parts Of The Former Factory Site, Contamination In The Soil With Pesticides And Mercury Has Spread To The Groundwater, With The Risk Of An Unacceptable Seepage Into Nissum Bredning. The Current Factory Is Located Immediately North Of The Old Factory Site On Rønland. In 2015, Cheminova Was Bought By The Company Fmc, Which Today Operates A Pumping Of Contaminated Groundwater On The Old Factory Site To Prevent The Leakage Of Pollution. The Pumped-Up Water Is Directed To Fmcs Treatment Plant At Rønland. The Establishment Of The Sheet Pile Must Be An Effective Safeguard Against Pollution Seepage In The Future, As It Is Led To An Elevation Of -12 M, Down Into A Water-Resistant Clay Layer And Thus Completely Prevents Seepage From The Overlying Permeable Sand Layers. For The Sake Of The Water Balance Inside The Sheet Pile, There Will Still Be A Need For Fmc To Pump Up Water, But To A Much Lesser Extent. Establishment Of The Sheet Pile Must Take Into Account Fmcs Pumping Up Of Groundwater. As The Soil On The Site Is Heavily Contaminated, There Are Special Requirements For Pss That Must Be Complied With.
