Research And Development Services And Related Consultancy Services – Fe 08.0282/2025/Dgb - Test Method For Comparing The Akr-Related Performance Of Cem I, Cem Ii And Cem Iii Cements For Concrete Road Surfaces. The Research Project Fe 08.0282/2025/Dgb Is Dedicated To Evaluating The Akr-Related Performance Of Clinker-Reduced Cements (Cem Ii And Cem Iii) In Comparison To Conventional Portland Cement (Cem I) For Concrete Road Surfaces. The Background Is The Increased Risk Of Akr Caused By De-Icing Agents Penetrating From Outside. Previous Akr Performance Tests Are Based Almost Exclusively On Cem I Cements, Although The Use Of More Co₂-Efficient Cements Is Increasing. The Aim Of The Project Is To Examine Whether The Akr Performance Of Clinker-Reduced Cements Can Be Demonstrated Using Faster And More Cost-Effective Processes. This Could Make Another Akr Performance Test Unnecessary. The Results Should Form The Basis For The Broader Application Of Co₂-Efficient Cements And Contribute To The Decarbonization Of Concrete Construction. In Addition, New Rock Deposits Could Be Developed And Regional Supplies Could Be Improved. In The First Step, In Addition To A Literature Search On The Properties Of Clinker-Reduced Cements And Their Influence On Akr, Suitable Starting Materials Are Selected. The Selected Fine And Coarse Aggregates Should Have Different Alkaline Reactivities. The Starting Materials Must Then Be Characterized, Particularly With Regard To Their Akr-Relevant Properties. This Includes Determining The Effective Alkali Content And The Hydroxide Ion Concentration Of The Cements Used As Well As The Mineralogical Analysis Of The Aggregates. In Laboratory Tests On Concrete, The Akr Potential Should Be Evaluated Depending On The Type Of Cement And Aggregate. Finally, All Results Are Brought Together, Analyzed And Recommendations For Recipe Evaluations Are Derived.
