This project is an extension of the 2019 Pilot of the APEC Occupational Standards for the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry in the Pacific Alliance which builds on the 2016-17 APEC Occupational Standards development project in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry. An extension is required due to impacts of COVID-19 on project completion. Australia will continue to support a sub-regional pilot to i) test the relevance of the standards to local industry and training systems and ii) support the development of relevant curriculum based on the standards to enable the delivery of skills training tailored to local contexts. By exploring how the standards can be translated into practical delivery, there is strong potential for a cascading effect of long-term benefits in strengthening domestic training sectors and increasing the skill level of workforceto meet industry needs. This extension will continue to focus on three Latin American APEC economies and is extended to encompass APEC non-member guest Colombia. It will involve a series of virtual validation workshops and technical assistance calls as well as capacity building workshops (virtual or face-to-face) focused on curriculum development. An evaluation workshop will be held at the end of the project. |
