Project Name GLOBAL PROJECT KNOWLEDGE FOR NUTRITION (K4N)
Project Detail Evidence-based approaches and strategies are increasingly being used for the coherent design of nutrition-relevant programs and policies of the BMZ and the European Commission. Sufficient and good food is a human right. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - especially SDG 2 "No Hunger" - are the global frame of reference for this. Under the German presidency, the Group of Seven industrialized countries (G7) has committed to eliminating hunger by 2030 and to end malnutrition of 500 million people. The European Commission (EC) has also set itself the goal of reducing the number of chronically malnourished children and investing in the fight against malnutrition. Goal Nutrition-related programs and policies of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the EC are increasingly based on evidence-based approaches and strategies and have the necessary skills. Approach With financial resources from the BMZ and the European Union (EU), the program works in three fields of action: 1. Under "Evidence for Nutrition" ( Evidence for Nutrition, E4N) works significantly to increase the effectiveness of nutrition-related programs and policies. It is primarily geared towards BMZ needs. 2. “Capacity for Nutrition Advisory, C4N Advisory) serves to advise the EC, EU delegations in third countries and their partner institutions. Since 2023, the field of action has been supporting the “Scaling Up” strategy Nutrition, SUN) 3.0. To this end, it advises the global SUN member countries, EU delegations and representatives of EU member states. 3. National Information Platforms for Nutrition (C4N-NIPN) supports information platforms that promote evidence-based decisions and policy dialogues on nutrition. This occurs in nine countries: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Côte dIvoire, Kenya, Laos, Niger, Zambia and Uganda. C4N-NIPN is responsible for coordinating the platforms globally and implementing them directly in Ethiopia, Niger and Zambia.
