The Mexican state of health implements an Operational Program so that, through an Accredited and Approved Verification Unit, technical personnel hired by IICA support official personnel in plant and animal health inspection activities at ports, airports, borders, and national mobilization.
General objective:
Strengthen the phytozoosanitary inspection service of the Agricultural Health Inspection Offices (OISAs), Federal Verification and Inspection Points (PVIFs) to reduce the risk of introduction and spread of pests and diseases of quarantine and economic importance.
Specific objectives:
Inspection of four million passenger luggage from international flights, ships from different countries and border points
Review of 10,000 vehicles, at border points, aircraft and vessels from abroad
Retention of 20,000 risk products in luggage, vehicles, aircraft and boats
Strengthen the activities of the Phytozoosanitary Inspection System, to prevent the entry and spread of pests and diseases.
Maintain the accreditation and approval as a Verification Unit, in the areas of national mobilization and importation for the verification of regulated merchandise
Develop the competence of the personnel, through their training in operational and managerial issues, to improve their performance in the activities they carry out within the Phytozoosanitary Inspection System.
Contribute sustainably in the containment strategies in terms of agri-food health, defined by SENASICA, at the points of entry and exit to the country.
Assist materially, technically and administratively in the development, implementation and consolidation of trade facilitation programs for agri-food merchandise.
Improve the existing assistance scheme for the phytosanitary and animal health inspection scheme within the national territory, in collaboration with the sanitary campaigns arranged by SENASICA.
Consolidate a highly specialized training system that, in terms of technique, science and National Security, supports the official inspection system and the coadjuvant team.
Strengthen the phytozoosanitary inspection processes and the actions regarding plant health, animal health and food safety at the inspection or verification points authorized by SENASICA.
Train personnel in operational and managerial issues that contribute to improving their performance in the inspection and review activities they carry out.
Improve the specific aspects of relevance in the operation of the inspection system, such as specific training; infrastructure improvement; equipment for staff, as well as essential materials and supplies.
Strengthen the phytozoosanitary inspection service with personnel in the phytozoosanitary inspection processes and actions regarding plant health, animal health and food safety, at the inspection or verification points authorized by SENASICA.
Assist materially, technically and administratively in the development, implementation and consolidation of projects that promote the phytozoosanitary protection of the Mexican countryside.
Address the specific aspects of relevance in the operation of the inspection system, such as specific training; infrastructure improvement; equipment for staff, as well as essential materials and supplies. |
