Project Name Adapted Agroforestry Systems for the Central American Dry Corridor (AGROINNOVA).
Project Detail The AGRO-INNOVA goal seeks to strengthen the capacities and knowledge management of 3,000 small producers and 12 organizations in six countries of the Central American Dry Corridor. Five specific intervention strategies are proposed to improve food security, productive development and climate resilience in highly vulnerable small producers, which are based on: Models in Agroforestry Systems adapted to small producers; Institutional Management: National and Regional Technical Network for exchange and synergies for knowledge management in SAF; Development of Technological Innovation Showcases at SAFM with leading producers and initiatives with producer organizations; Promotion of disruptive innovation: Technologies and good practices, agricultural, Forestry and digital agriculture; finally, Training of capacities for the adoption and scaling of innovations in SAFM. General objective: Contribute to improving the climate resilience and food security of highly vulnerable households of small producers in Central America. Specific objectives: Improve climate change mitigation and adaptation technologies for the production of staple crops and smallholder livestock through innovation, research, transparency, and outreach in SAFM, in order to preserve seed biodiversity, increase productivity, and improve food security of highly vulnerable families in the Dry Corridor of Central America. Specific Objective 1. Promote the adoption of technology in adapted agroforestry systems for small Central American producers to improve climate resilience and strengthen their food security in agricultural and livestock production systems. Specific objective 2. Strengthen the capacities of national and regional partners in agricultural research, transfer, and extension in agroforestry systems, as a way of favoring an increase in productivity and food availability for small Central American producers.
