The Banks action will help to mitigate the impact of this natural disaster and prevent a further food crisis in the coming months as humanitarian assistance stocks of food run out. Above all, it will help to ensure rapid socio-economic recovery after 3 to 6 months by rebuilding productive agricultural assets. Reviving production in short-cycle (3-month) agro-pastoral sectors, which are the main source of income for affected households, will help prevent social tensions that could result from a shortage of agricultural products intended for household food security and trade.
