Project Name Bihar Rural Road (Phase II)
Project Detail 90% of Bihar’s population lives in rural areas. Over 86% of the total mapped road network are rural roads that provide inter-village connectivity and act as a feeder network to roads of higher categories. The access of rural roads to local economic centers is critical to improving productivity in agriculture and allied activities, on which most of the population depends for their livelihoods. The Project aims to provide first-time road connectivity to more than 7,000 rural habitations, benefiting 2.25 million rural population. Amongst other things, this will link them to around 860 social, economic and educational centers in Bihar. This road network coverage will increase to 95% of the total number of rural habitations in the state. The Project will support construction of more than 8,000 km length of rural roads and cross-drainage works, under the Mukhya Mantri Gram Sampark Yojana – Awsesh.
