Skilled professionals, who could contribute to generating innovation in industries with their advanced expertise, are key to growth for diverse industries and business sectors, such as in the field of digitization and supply chain management. As APEC economies recover from the impact of COVID-19, the demand for such professionals in the region is expected to increase further.
It is important for economies and private sectors to work on improvement of business environment and on facilitation of development of such professionals through education, training, and creation of job opportunities not only within the economy but also across the border to accelerate regional sustainable economic growth. Considering each economies’ economic and social situation such as current economic situations, potential growth and industrial development strategies, there are works / initiatives / measures to improve development of skilled professionals across the borders including capacity building and cooperation for development of skilled professionals among economies, attracting skilled professionals across the borders in government and private sectors. Promoting such works has potential to raise the level of skilled professionals in the entire APEC region.
Japan proposes to host virtual workshop aiming to promote further development and utilization of such professionals across the region by sharing best practices on cross-border works / initiatives / measures by government and private sector to develop skilled professionals through education, training and creation of job opportunities. This will provide useful policy implications for policy makers to boost innovations in business sectors. The discussion of the workshops will be compiled into a report. |
