Ireland Project Notice - A Simple, Repeatable Way To Completely Remove A Clot From The Brain In One Pass

Project Notice

PNR 40431
Project Name A simple, repeatable way to completely remove a clot from the brain in one pass
Project Detail Simplifying clot removal could improve outcomes for millions with ischaemic stroke Stroke is a decrease or cessation of blood flow to a part of the brain, depriving it of essential oxygen and nutrients. Brain cells, unlike other cells in the body, begin to die within minutes. Eighty percent of strokes are ischaemic strokes that occur when arteries become narrowed or blocked by a clot. Several large and recent studies have shown that endovascular procedures to remove the clot might be the most effective treatment. Perfuze has developed easy-to-use technology to aspirate the clot via a catheter, removing it in a single attempt by a single skilled operator. The team is now taking the device to market to mitigate the huge global mortality and morbidity associated with ischaemic stroke.
