Project Name 28th International Film Festival Innsbruck 2019
Project Detail SHORT DESCRIPTION: Overall goal The 28th International Film Festival Innsbruck (IFFI) will be screening films from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Southeastern Europe from 28 May to 2 June 2019 in an international competition. The aim is to make the cultural diversity of these continents or regions, apart from stereotypes, accessible to a wider audience and to discuss and discuss the challenges of people in developing countries. Expected results On 6 festival days around 70 feature films, documentaries and short films will be presented, with accompanying discussions in the presence of about 20 filmmakers. Several jury prizes will be awarded (5 film prizes, 1 honorary prize). Around 5,000 visitors attend the film screenings and accompanying events. A broader public is indirectly reached via local and regional media reports (eg on ORF-Tirol, Die Presse, Radio Freirad, Ray Filmmagazin). The lending of films shown at the IFFI is made possible; Rare movies are archived in the Festival Library for further use. Target group / Beneficiaries Target groups: The festival is aimed at visitors interested in development policy, a public interested in cinema and culture as well as an audience that has no special educational background in development policy. Young visitors in particular are the focus of the project. Cooperation / Networking / Partners: The IFFI works with a broad network of cooperation partners in Germany and abroad: international public cultural and educational institutions, NGOs, film schools, Austrian Film Festival Forum, partner festivals and festival networks, universities, youth institutions, tourism agencies, business. Cooperations between domestic and international filmmakers are initiated and continued. Activities The IFFI brings high quality feature films, documentaries and short films by directors from Africa, Asia and Latin America and Southeastern Europe to Austria and conveys the diversity of cinematic expressions of different cultures. Several jury prizes will be awarded. The approximately 70 film screenings are complemented by an accompanying program (public discussions with international filmmakers and producers, introductions of experts, workshops, concerts, film workshops for young audiences, social media, blog). The audience is actively involved through offers for discussion, encounter and dialogue. Topics and problems of countries that often have little differentiated media coverage are specifically addressed. Focus countries in 2019 include Georgia and Burkina Faso. Thematic priorities in 2019 include migration / flight, the situation of young people in countries of the global South, human rights, climate protection and gender equality.
