Tenders Are Invited For Long Term Agreement Individual Consultancy Coastal Engineering Consultant IcDeadline 22 Jun 18Posted 28 May 18Overview Tuvalu Is The Fourth Smallest Nation In The World In Land Area With A Population Of Just Over 10 000 It Is One Of The Most Vulnerable Countries In The World To The Impacts Of Climate Change And Particularly Sea Level Rise And The Possibility Of Intensifying Storm Events Recent Cyclones Have Caused Population Displacement Significant Loss And Damage Of Infrastructure As Well As Destruction Of Agricultural Resources Contamination Of Ground Water And Changes In Shoreline Systems Such Impacts Negatively Affect The Wellbeing Of Communities And Long Term Sustainable Development Aspirations In Response To This Increasing Challenge The Government Of Tuvalu Got And The Green Climate Fund GCF Have Jointly Committed US 38 Million For The Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project The Project Will Build Coastal Resilience Which Is An Urgent National Priority This Project Will Address The Financial And Capacity Constraints At All Levels From Technical To Community AwarenessThe Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project TCAP Was Approved In June 2016 And The Project Implementation Commenced In September 2017 The Project Will Run Until September 2023 The Objective Of The Project Is To Enhance Coastal Resilience In Tuvalu By Implementing A Robust Strategy Of Coastal Measures In Three Of The Country S Nine Islands As Such The Project Is Expected To Build Appropriate Coastal Engineering Defense Measures Adjacent To High Value Vulnerable Shorelines To Ensure They Are More Resilient To The Effects Of Increased Wave Intensity This Investment Will Be Undertaken On The Islands Of Funafuti Nanumea And Nanumaga And Directed Along Areas With High Concentration Of Residences And Social And Economic Assets Strengthen Institutional And Community Capacities For Sustaining And Replicating Project Results In Other Areas Of Tuvalu The United Nations Development Programme Pacific Office In Fiji Is Seeking To Enter Into A Long Term Agreement With A Coastal Engineering Consultant Who Will Assist The Project Management Unit PMU And UNDP In Ensuring That This Coastal Engineering Civil Construction Works Is Meticulously Planned Implemented And Monitored In The Most Appropriate Way Involving Acceptable Engineering Best Practices To Guarantee A Sustainable Longevity Of The Coastal Defence Measure In The Future An LTA Is A Mutual Arrangement Between UNDP And The Individual To Provide The Required Services At Established Fee Or Provisions The LTA Will Be Established For One Year And Renewable For Up To Three Years Linked To Satisfactory Performance Of The Individual Consultant UNDP Reserves The Right To Rescind The Agreement During That Period Should Performance Of The Consultant Not Meet Its Requirements Under An LTA UNDP Does Not Warrant That Any Quantity Of Services Shall Be Purchased During The Term Of This Agreement Where A Request For Services Arises UNDP Shall Directly Contract The Consultant Based On Its Need To Carry Out Those Activities A Specific Term Of Reference TOR Outlining The Outputs For Each Assignment Shall Be Provided And An Individual Contract Would Be Issued To The Consultant Detailing The Time Frame IMPORTANT Note Technical Offer ONLY MUST Be Uploaded To The Un Jobs Application Site In ONE PDF Document At Https Jobs Undp Org Cj View Job Cfm Cur Job Id 79129Financial Offer ONLY MUST Be Sent To Etenderbox Pacific Undp Org No Later Than The Indicated Deadline In This Notice By Filling In And Signing ANNEX A Attached Herewith For Full Details On Application And Desciprtion Of The Position Please Visit The UN Jobsite
