Project Detail |
The Kofi Annan Prize 2021 was launched by the Austrian Federal Chancellery (BKA) in cooperation with the World Food Program (WFP), the Kofi Annan Foundation and the Austrian Development Agency. The focus of the Kofi Annan Prize 2021 is the promotion of projects by young companies based in Africa that offer innovative solutions to achieve SDG 3 ("Health and Wellbeing").
As part of a pan-African call for proposals, nine young companies are selected and invited to submit their project proposals. The top three projects will be awarded the Kofi Annan Prize 2021 with a maximum of €250,000 each from BKA funds.
The WFP Innovation Accelerator, specially designed for start-up support, will make a pre-selection among the interested companies and provide technical support to nine selected young companies so that they can professionalize and scale their companies. At the same time, the ties between Africa, Austria and Europe are to be strengthened and the interest of European investors in the African market increased. |
