Work Detail Swiss-based offshore geotechnical data acquisition specialist Geoquip Marine has appointed the former boss of Norwegian seismic player PGS Rune Pedersen as its new chief executive officer. Pedersen, who headed up PGS until the company’s merger with Oslo-listed seismic data specialist TGS will take the helm at Geoquip in January next year, replacing outgoing CEO Richard Turner, who has accepted a role in the UK. He has spent the last 14 years at PGS and previously was a partner in Arntzen de Besche’s oil and energy practice and currently serves as a non-executive director on the boards of Norwegian oil producer OKEA, and Brazilian oil and gas player Seacrest Petroleo. Geoquip, a Njord Partners’ portfolio company, is currently generating record annual revenues of $125m. The company, which counts six ships in its fleet that provide a range of offshore geotechnical survey services, has set out to expand further with investments in new equipment, vessels, onshore laboratories and talent with a focus on offshore wind but also to grow exposure in oil and gas, subsea cabling and carbon capture storage (CCS). Commenting on his appointment, Pedersen said: “The successful turnaround of the business under Njord Partners has positioned the company as a leader in the rapidly growing offshore wind market and laid strong foundations for growth. I look forward to working closely with the rest of the team to drive Geoquip’s success in the coming years.”
