Work Detail Australian startup H2i Technology is building 10 commercial-ready systems and plans to start field trials soon. Hydrogen company H2i Technology says it will complete production of 10 of its plug-in hydrogen upgrade kits by March. The company manufactures its systems through an unnamed production partner in the Australian state of Victoria. It will test the prototypes at the facilities of five potential customers who have various diesel engines in the steel, agriculture, construction, mining, and hospitality and tourism sectors. The systems include proprietary hardware and software to manage hydrogen injection into an existing diesel engine, something the company says could reduce fuel consumption by up to 20% and carbon emissions by 300 tonnes per year. “Four of the companies were going to be field testing with are based in Australia, while the other is in the Middle East,” says David Vinson, President of H2i Technology, noting that the company is confident of converting field tests in sales contracts. H2i Technology is reportedly owned in whole or in part by Liberty Energy Capital , an Australian investment company with "significant positions" in 18 renewable energy companies. These include H2X Global , Patriot Hydrogen , Sweetman Renewables , Verdant Earth Technologies and Port Anthony Renewables Limited . Billing itself as an investor in renewable energy, Liberty Energy Capitals portfolio is heavily focused on hydrogen projects and technologies that are eco-agnostic at best. Liberty owns almost all of the companies that have hydrogen projects from biomass in Australia, which is certainly not a zero emission technology . Liberty Energy Capital also owns a 30% stake in Pure Hydrogen , a company that owns three gas projects, including the Windorah Gas Project in the Cooper Basin, one of Australias most prolific onshore oil basins.
