Ten Argentine cities that make up the Argentine Network of Municipalities against Climate Change (RAMCC) participate in the international City Climate Finance Gap Fund project, which seeks to help cities in developing countries and emerging finance their projects in this field. The Cordoba city of Bell Ville has already begun studies to implement it.
The Gap Fund is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). , as well as the Luxembourg Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development. Other partners are the Global Covenant of Mayors (GCoM) and city networks such as Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) and the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group.
The Gap Fund is executed by the World Bank (WB) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German international cooperation agency.
Given this framework, the RAMCC developed and presented to the Gap Fund the project “Distributed generation of photovoltaic solar energy, preferably on the roofs of municipal public buildings ” . Once selected, it will be supported by the EIB and coordinated globally by GIZ.
Specifically, the project will be implemented in 10 municipalities that are part of the network for 7 months, with the ultimate goal of delivering folders to each municipality with projects ready to be executed.
The chosen cities are Puerto Esperanza and Posadas (in the province of Misiones), Bell Ville and Marcos Juárez (Córdoba), Godoy Cruz and Luján de Cuyo (Mendoza), San Martín de los Andes and Plottier (Neuquén), and San Miguel and General Pueyrredon (Buenos Aires).
Bell Ville
Precisely in the Cordovan city of Bell Ville they have already begun to take the first steps to implement the project.
From the local municipality it has been reported that "work will be done on the installation of solar parks in the Municipal Palace, Recyclable Waste Treatment Plant, former branch deposit, Municipal Corralón, Deliberative Council and Francisco Tau Park Nature Reserve".
Regarding the deployment, it is mentioned that "an area of ??17,700 square meters will be used for the installation of panels, with an installed power of 1,450 kWp, generating an energy of 2,150 MWh/year and an equivalent to what is consumed by almost 500 type homes. standard, 5% of the current general demand in the city”. |
