Work Detail The online sales multinational Amazon has announced an expansion of its renewable energy portfolio worldwide, with an additional 2.7 GW of capacity through 71 new projects, including the first in the South American region, a 122-volt photovoltaic plant MW in Brazil. In a statement, the global logistics giant has not specified more information about the location of the plant that it announces it will build in Brazil, although it does include an investment of 380,000 dollars in environmental programs during construction "to protect and promote The Biodiversity". It also specifies that the project "will create 850 jobs during the construction phase, and another 30 permanent jobs once the project comes into operation." Along with the Brazil plant, Amazon announces 71 new renewable energy projects globally, mentioning countries like India and Poland. As stated by the company led by Jeff Bezos, its own portfolio of renewable projects reaches 202 in North America, 117 in Europe, 57 in Asia and the Pacific, one in the Middle East, one in Africa and now its first project in South America. The total number of projects from these sources enabled by Amazon is guaranteed to generate 50,000 GWh per year, equivalent to supplying 4.6 million US homes each year. Amazon is presented as the largest corporate buyer of renewable energy worldwide, with 379 projects in operation in 21 countries, spread over 225 rooftop solar and 154 wind farms, representing 18.5 GW of capacity. By the end of 2021, the company claimed to have reached 85% renewable energy across its business.
