Work Detail pv magazine compiles the new products presented at Intersolar – The Smarter-E. This is the case of TrinaTrackers SuperTrack intelligent tracking control system, which increases energy production by between 3% and 8%. TrinaTracker, tracker manufacturer and business unit of Trina Solar, launches SuperTrack, an innovative intelligent control system, and unveils the Vanguard 1P tracker at the Intersolar Europe exhibition in Munich. SuperTrack includes an intelligent tracking algorithm that increases power output by 3% to 8% compared to conventional tracking algorithms, according to the company. SuperTrack intelligent tracking combines Smart Tracking (STA) and Smart Backtracking (SBA) algorithms to improve energy production, particularly in cloudy climates with highly diffuse irradiation, complex and uneven terrain. STA optimizes power output for bifacial modules under highly diffuse irradiance conditions by considering 12 key parameters, included in the Trina bifacial irradiation model. Which implies more significant information to the data obtained by four parameters used in astronomical algorithms. In addition, STA reduces the rotation times of the trackers, extending the durability of the motors and batteries. SBA minimizes power generation losses resulting from inter-tracker shading in photovoltaic plants installed on land with multiple slopes. First, UAV sensing technology and power generation data simulate terrain and shadows in three dimensions. The optimal angle during backtracking is then precisely defined using a machine learning algorithm and the patented Mini-Shading model. The SuperTrack intelligent control system includes pyranometers and a snow sensor, the data of which is shared between the NCUs. Therefore, when a sensor fails, the operation of the trackers is not affected and the energy production remains high. Additionally, SuperTrack also integrates protection strategies that actively respond in extreme weather conditions. SuperTrack software provides monitoring and control in an easy-to-use interface, including: target angle, actual angles, battery level, TCU and NCU monitoring; an alarm system with data storage and logging, real-time weather information and SuperTrack parameters José Carlos Talavera, Head of Project Fulfilment and Global Customer Services at TrinaTracker mentioned at the launch: “We are very excited to launch SuperTrack, a control monitoring system that dramatically increases our customers return on investment by increasing energy production by up to 3%-8%. I strongly believe that TrinaTracker is setting a new milestone in the PV industry by developing an AI solution whose performance goes far beyond what is achieved with existing conventional tracking applications.” Among the TrinaTracker customers that have already incorporated the SuperTrack intelligent control system in their facilities is the Tongchuan photovoltaic plant, which has registered an annual power increase of 3.06% Other examples of SuperTrack performance are: Nangong photovoltaic plant, Hebei province, with an average energy gain in climatic conditions with high diffuse irradiation 3.84% In it, the energy gain in a typical cloudy day 8.03% Photovoltaic plant in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, with a typical sunny day energy gain of 4.64%. There the energy gain on the typical cloudy day 9.41% The increase in energy production data generated by SuperTrack has been validated by China General Certificaiton (CGC) and Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS), the worlds leading testing, inspection and certification company.
