Work Detail pv magazine compiles the new products presented at Intersolar – The Smarter-E. In this case, the new Gamesa Electric Proteus photovoltaic inverter represents an improvement over the previous Gamesa Electric 3X series. It has a power of up to 4,700 kVA and is compatible with DC/ESS interfaces for the connection of energy storage systems. The Spanish company Gamesa Electric has launched a new central inverter solution with a power of 4,700 kVA. The Proteus photovoltaic inverter is an improvement of the Gamesa Electric 3X series. The Proteus central inverter can be deployed in four configurations and can be combined with DC storage and AC storage. It can also be used for the conditioning of electrolyzers in the generation of green hydrogen. "Proteus is related to the mythological figure that represents flexibility, speed, versatility and who also has the ability to foresee and anticipate the future," says Enrique de la Cruz, commercial director of solar and storage at Gamesa Electric. “These are characteristics with which we feel very identified as they are part of the DNA of our solutions. In fact, one of the reasons we find this name so apt is that Proteus ties in perfectly with our motto: Shaping New Energy." The 1,500 V inverter solution has an efficiency rating of 99.45% and a European efficiency rating of 99.24%. It features Gamesa Electrics CoolBrid cooling technology, with liquid and forced air cooling. The liquid cools the inverter bridge and mains filter, while the forced air cools small components such as switches and fuses. The fluid is changed every five years. The outdoor design has an IP55 degree of protection and operates at a temperature of up to 60 C. Gamesa Electric has claimed to have achieved market leading Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) efficiency. He said that the MPPT voltage ranges from 835 V to 1,300 V. He has also claimed that the inverters offer best-in-class total harmonic distortion, with a THDi in the 50th order of 0.7%. He said that he chose "Proteus" as the name of the new product "among more than a hundred alternatives proposed by the companys workers." The investor won one of this years prestigious Intersolar awards. This copy was updated on 05/12/22 to reflect Gamesas success at the 2022 Intersolar Awards.
