The facilities, totaling 1.2 MWh, will be located in Brus Laguba and the island of Guanaja. The IDB made available to the Honduran Government about 8 million dollars for the technical study and execution.
Solartia, the company specializing in photovoltaics, microgrids and storage based in Pamplona, ??has been the winner of an international tender from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Government of Honduras through the National Electric Energy Company to develop two hybrid microgrids totaling 1.2 MWp. The projects, which will begin construction from next February, are made up of a total of 1 MWp of solar energy, 2.19 MWh of energy storage and 1,950 kVA of backup generators .
The two projects will be built in :
Brus Laguna, Honduras
Hybrid microgrid: 400 kWp of solar PV energy + 750 KVA diesel generator + energy storage system with a capacity of 1.65 MWh
Guanaja, Bay Islands, Honduras
Hybrid microgrid: 600 kWp of solar PV energy + 1200 KVA diesel generator + energy storage system with a capacity of 0.540 MWh
This new proposal is developed within the framework of the Rural Electrification Program in Isolated Places (PERLA). The electricity coverage index in Honduras currently stands at 80%, according to IDB sources.
The Inter-American Development Bank made available to the Government of Honduras nearly 8 million dollars for the technical study and execution of "two turnkey projects to bring clean and affordable energy."
In 2019 Solartia began the construction of a hybrid microgrid with storage and a 2 MW photovoltaic installation on the Nicaraguan island of Corn Island. Later, for this project, Solartia received the 2020 International Project of the Year award at Solar & Storage Live, the largest renewable energy event in the UK. |
