Work Detail The Chilean Ministry of Public Works and Albertis, through the Autopista Central, a subsidiary of the holding group VíasChile, have signed an agreement to develop two tunnels as the expansion of the Autopista Central project in Santiago de Chile. The project involves the construction of two one-way tunnels, each 1.5 km long, which will connect the General Velásquez stretch of Autopista Central and Américo Vespucio Norte portion of Santiago ring road. Total project costs are estimated at EUR300 million (US$347.92 million). Once operational, the tunnels will decongest the highway as well as save fuel and travel time. The works are planned to begin in the first half of 2022 and be delivered within 40 months. The Autopista Central concession is responsible for the management of a 62 km toll road in the North-South axle of the Santiago de Chile metropolitan area until 2032.
