Description Nairobi — The contractor who installed the surveillance system and security installations in Nairobi said not to be working, are now blaming County contractors for damaging fiber optics required to transmit information. According to Auditors report for year ended June 30, 2017, the Sh437 million cameras that were installed in key strategic places such as market places, bus parks, hotel entrances and highways are not working. The report indicates that the cameras stopped working due to poor maintenance. A Chinese Company Nanjis LES Information Technology Limited was contracted in 2012 to install CCTV cameras, traffic and pedestrian lights so as to enhance security in the City as well as monitor traffic. The Countys watchdog committee revealed that 26 out of 42 CCTVs installed in major roads such as Moi Avenue, Uhuru Highway, Kenyatta Highway and Tom Mboya are functional. The Committee said it was unfair that millions of taxpayers money was used on a dysfunctional project and at the same time putting the security of city residents at risk because of no monitoring. "Its unfortunate that we have lost lives in the city despite having spent millions on monitoring cameras which have never captured even a thief," said the Committee Chair Wilfred Odalo. The members cited the recent instance where a cargo that had an IED explosive exploded at Kenya Cinema leaving one injured, saying that such an incident should have been captured by the cameras. "These cameras were to assist us in such instances, but now even the owner of the cargo couldnt be captured by the cameras despite it happening at the CBD at the glare of these cameras," said Moses Ogeto a member of the committee. Appearing before the Countys Public Accounts Committee on Thursday, the Companys Manager Michael LU said by the time they handed over the company to the Ministry of Interior in 2014, all the cameras were functional hence its not their fault that they are not working now. "We handed over a fully functional system, the county contractors have damaged the fiber optic while doing some works where the cables are installed and failed to repair them," said Michael. He said that even now the systems are working only that the transmission is lacking due to damaged fiber which can be functional if repaired. The Committee questioned who then is responsible for repairing the system in case of a breakdown. Engineer Wachira Gitau from the Ministry of Transport Metropolitan department said the County should bear the responsibility of repairing the fiber optic because their contractors are the ones who damaged the fiber optic while doing some works where the cables are installed.

Description KP “Kyivpastrans” announced two tenders for the purchase of 20 low-floor trams - 26-meter and 30-meter for a total of more than 1 billion hryvnia. New transport must be delivered before the end of 2019. Taking into account previously announced tenders, the total amount by which it is planned to upgrade the public transport of the capital in 2018-2019, already exceeds 2 billion hryvnia. As the K the V became aware of the ads of the electronic system of public procurement ProZorro, November 16, 2018 KP "Kyivpastrans" announced two tenders for the purchase of 20 trams (ten 30-meter and ten 26-meter). The expected cost of procurement is 1.07 billion hryvnia. Subscribe to news "Kiev V domain" According to the technical specifications of the first tender , the contractor will have to deliver 10 three-section tram cars with a length of over 26 meters and a low floor level of 100% by December 31, 2019. Trams should be no later than 2018 and should be suitable for use on a 1524 mm wide tramway. The cars must have at least 60 seats for passengers and at least one seat for the passenger in the wheelchair. Trams should also be equipped with an audio system with electronic language informer, video surveillance system and automated fare collection system (ASOP). In addition, the technical task provides for the presence in the cabin of a device for charging gadgets (USB ports) and a place to install a Wi-Fi router and the point of its connection to power. The life of the tram must be at least 15 years, the guarantee must be at least 24 months from the date of commissioning. In the technical assignment it is also noted that the list of spare parts in the amount of not less than 3 million hryvnia will be agreed upon upon signing the contract. According to the terms of reference of the second tender , the contractor will have to supply Kyivpastrans with 10 three-section trams over 30 meters long with a low floor level of 100%. Specifications for these trams are similar to those of the first tender. These trams must also be delivered before the end of 2019. The expected cost of a 26-meter tram is 56.8 million hryvnia, and 30-meter - 50.3 million hryvnia. You can appeal against the conditions of both tenders until December 13, 2018, and submit proposals until December 17. The auction is scheduled for January 22, 2019. Recall, September 28, 2018 KP “Kyivpastrans” has already announced a tender for the purchase of trams. We are talking about 10 three-section trams with a length of over 26 meters and with a floor level of at least 70%. The expected cost of purchase is 430.45 million hryvnia (therefore, the cost of one tram is 43 million hryvnia). New transport to Kiev must also be delivered before the end of 2019. Thus, the total amount that Kiev plans to spend on the purchase of trams is more than 1.4 billion hryvnia. Also, K V previously reported that KP “Kyivpastrans” in September of this year announced a tender for the purchase of 25 city buses with 100% low floor for 146 million hryvnia. B itayte: "Kyivpastrans" is going to spend over half a billion hryvnia to a new public transport And after the announced tenders for the purchase of buses and trams, Kyivpastrans prepared for the purchase of 80 trolleybuses. They can cost the budget of Kiev in 788 million hryvnia. B itayte: "Kyivpastrans" is going to buy 80 trolleybuses to 788 million hryvnia In general, the total amount for which it is planned to update the public transport of the capital in 2018-2019, already exceeds 2.3 billion hryvnia. The money will obviously be taken on credit. In April 2018, she reported that the Kyiv City Council had allowed KP “Kyivpastrans” to take a loan to upgrade public transport, as well as to buy equipment for the reconstruction of the funicular, from the European Investment Bank for 50 million euros. B itayte: In 2018, "Kyivpastrans" will climb into debt for the purchase of public transport Recall that in May 2017, KP “Kyivpastrans” announced a tender for the purchase of 40 tram cars for almost 2 billion hryvnias. The conditions of the tender were clearly spelled out specifically for the Polish manufacturer Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz SA, from which the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, had earlier promised to buy 50 cars. The K the V Then it was reported that, according to experts, due to exceeding the maximum permissible load on an existing tram canvas axis can go off the rails. At high speed (and trams are planned to be used on the high-speed line) they can roll over. However, the Kyiv City State Administration ( KSCA) was not embarrassed, as was the fact that Moscow had previously refused these trams, citing unacceptably high prices. B itayte: Complete "Pesa". Kyivpastrans plans to buy life-threatening tram cars for 2 billion hryvnias Another type of public transport - funiculars - KP “Kyivpastrans” can not be updated. New promised cars cannot be purchased from three attempts. Recall that in January of this year, the head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Vitali Klitschko, said that in 2018 Kiev was planning to replace the cars of the Kiev funicular. According to him, the Austrian company will supply modern cable cars that meet the highest European standards of safety and comfort. After his statement, Kyivpastrans held a tender three times for the purchase of two cars with an expected value of over UAH 232 million. However, none of them took place. B itayte: Carriages for funicular Kiev will deliver an Austrian company It is also worth recalling that the consequences of the “unsuccessful” purchase of public transport KP “Kyiv Metro” continue to affect the budget of Kiev. This KP is now taking away all the money earned in repayment of debt for 100 metro cars received under a leasing agreement in 2010-2012. This forced the company to urgently agree on a draft settlement agreement with the Austro-Hungarian Leasing Company LLC (successor of Ukrrosleasing LLC) in the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) and the Kyiv City Council. According to the document, this LLC needs to pay UAH 930 million by the end of 2018, and the remaining amount - by the end of 2019. The reason isKP “Kyiv Metro” in 2015 finally recognized its inability to pay mad sums for leased 100 cars, since the payment amounts, in accordance with the terms of the relevant agreement No. 16-Upr-09 (2009, Leonid Chernovetsky cadence) .- K V), were rigidly tied to the dollar, which, as you know, then rose sharply. B itayte: Kiev will be difficult to settle with "Austria-Hungary" for the debts of the subway Recall the post of director of KP “Kyivpastrans” from August 30, 2016 is occupied by Dmitry Levchenko . The enterprise is supervised by the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the KSCA, whose director is Sergei Simonov since August 4, 2017 . All issues of transport in Kiev from September 29, 2017, are supervised by the deputy head of the KSCA Dmitry Davtyan .

Description Norwegian information technology company Vissim has been awarded a contract to deliver its latest generation vessel traffic management system to Aker Solutions for the Maersk Inspirer rig. Vissim said that the company would add an oil spill detection module and CCTV module which would add to the safety capabilities of the company’s vessel traffic management system. The integration of radar, voice communications, and vessel tracking sensors would provide rig operators with an anti-collision, safety, and communication system. “The oil spill detection module will further supplement operators environmental and situational awareness around the rig. Vissim’s proprietary software will leverage a combination of radar video and thermal camera imagery to allow operators to detect, track, and monitor any potential oil spills or leakage,” the company said. Vissim added that thermal cameras could similarly track vessels or targets whose position was provided by other sensor feeds. According to the company, all of its systems are designed to exceed relevant Norwegian and international standards for offshore oil and gas operations. It is worth reminding that the rig is currently in Aker Solution’s Egersund fabrication yard where it arrived on September 9, 2018. The rig arrived at Egersund for a modification project of its production module, which was awarded to Aker Solutions in December 2017. The work scope covers engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning services. The value of the contract is around $120 million. The production module was originally built in 2007, and Maersk Inspirer has had ten years of operations for Equinor on the Volve field. Following the modifications work on the module, Maersk Inspirer will operate for 5-10 years at the Yme field for Repsol. In related company news, Equinor awarded Vissim a contract back in April for a sea surveillance system for the Johan Castberg FPSO to be located in the Barents Sea off Norway.

Description New Delhi: Chennai-based supplier of uninterrupted power Supply (UPS) systems Consul Neowatt today announced it has started the world’s largest deployment of lithium-ion UPS solution in Andhra Pradesh. The firm said it was supplying UPS systems -- a device that provides battery backup when the electrical power fails or drops -- with lithium-ion battery to power the Internet Protocol CCTV cameras that were being installed across the state as part of a government programme for enhanced safety. Sriram Ramakrishnan, chief executive officer and managing director, Consul Neowatt said: “Our customer came to us with the stringent requirement of a long life and maintenance-free UPS solution for outdoor environment to power the CCTV cameras, which are spread over length and breadth of Andhra Pradesh.” The company said that the decision to go with lithium-ion batteries instead of the conventional lead acid batteries was taken keeping in mind the life of the battery in high heat condition and also because the lithium-ion battery had a lower weight and smaller footprint compared to lead acid batteries. “The in-house R&D team at Consul Neowatt evaluated and selected a lithium-ion battery technology, which can withstand higher ambient temperatures and has five times more cyclic life than valve-regulated lead acid batteries,” Ramakrishnan added. This project requires a 24-hour operation of the cameras installed on poles in key areas across the state, which needs an assured power supply. Consul Neowatt was also supplying high power three-phase UPS for command control centres (CCC) in all the districts of Andhra Pradesh for this project. All the UPS supplied for this project are Internet of Things ready and would be monitored at the district CCC along with the video feed from the IP CCTV cameras to ensure uninterrupted operations of the cloud-based surveillance system, the firm said.

Description Arada will build Sharjahs first smart homes by equipping luxury apartments in its Aljada megaproject with voice-activated technology. The Misk Apartments, which are yet to be built, will feature tech that allows homeowners to alter lighting, activate motion sensors, and control blinds, temperature, and utilities at the touch of a button or through voice activation. Residents will also have remote door access and a 24-hour video surveillance system that is accessible through a mobile phone. Arada said it was the first UAE developer to roll out smart home tech as a standard throughout a single project. READ: Arada awards $27m contract for Aljada megaproject in Sharjah The technology – Arada Smart Home – will be added free of charge to every unit in the Misk Apartments complex within Aljada, which is a $6.5bn (AED24bn) 2.2km² multi-phase development that is due to complete in 2025. HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal, vice chairman of Arada, said the smart home technology demonstrated the developers determination to "break new boundaries". "One of Aradas core aims is to be a leader in the field of forward-thinking and sustainable development," he added. "Not only will the Arada Smart Home system allow residents greater peace of mind due to round-the-clock visibility of their homes, it will also allow them to save money by monitoring their electricity usage more closely, which in turn results in a reduced impact on the environment." Arada Smart Home will be unveiled at Cityscape Global on 2-4 October in Dubai. Plans to launch Sharjahs smart homes came after Arada awarded the first main construction contract for Aljada in July. Modern Building Contracting Company signed a $27.5m (AED101m) deal to build four buildings for the Phase 1 construction of Areej Apartments. Set to be completed in 2019, the 255 units will be the first homes built for Aljada.
